Cleaning Habits

For some reason I feel drawn to cleaning in the mornings. I am not quite sure what this development is all about, but I am going to go with it. The only problem is that I have to allow myself time to clean in the morning, which requires me to get up earlier. Yeah, harsh, huh?

I have been running into a problem getting started in the mornings because I usually walk the dog as soon as I get up at 6 a.m. and then get ready for work. But with the sun coming up later and later I don’t feel safe walking her when it is still dark. Maybe the solution is to still get up at 6 a.m., clean a bit, pray and then walk the dog. Hmmmmm…

Lots of idea running around in my scattered head, we will see what I can stick too. Why does it take so long to form a habit!! Sheeesh. Yes, I know has something to do with character development, but I am more of an instant gratification girl. LOL. Totally kidding on that one…well, for the most part anyway. :)

Proverbs 16:3

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

Redistribution

I saw this today and thought it was very thought provoking. It really makes me wonder how people are really going to feel if Obama is elected and there is a redistribution of their wealth.

Here is a creative approach to redistribution of wealth as offered by a reader of the local newspaper, the Eagle Tribune.

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign the read 'Vote Obama, I need the money.' I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on an 'Obama 08' tie, again I laughed--just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside.
The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved the money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

If Only

I have been looking at airfare for flights to the Winter Family weekend in Kentucky this year, but so far it doesn’t look good. I thought I might get tickets through a friend, but that doesn’t look like it is going to work out. I will keep looking and praying, but I am just going to leave it in God’s hands. There is no sense worrying about it, since I can’t change it…right?
Why is that so much easier said then done? Sigh :)

We got back in on Friday evening just as the sun was going down. I had a really nice time in Scotland, but unfortunately I started getting a cold on Thursday. :( So, now I have a bad cold and had to miss services.

So Glad

Another reason I am glad I don't have cable. Just when we got away from her, now she is back again. Sigh.

Was The Proverbs 31 Woman A Career Gal?

I just got into a discussion with someone about whether or not Proverbs 31 describes a career woman. I don't think the Bible contradicts itself and I do not believe that is what God is trying to say in Proverbs 31.

I just came across a blog called Was the Proverbs 31 Woman A Career Gal by Voddie Baucham that makes a good argument for why that is not what God intended. Mr. Baucham's theology is very different from mine, but I like they way he explains his thoughts on that matter and wanted to share.

Green Eyed Monster

Diana Ong

There is such a battle that goes on in me some times. How is it possible to be so incredibly happy for my friends, but to be envious of what what they have found? It is strange to have this amazing sense of excitement and happiness for someone, but still have this sense of envy of what they are experiencing. I think some envy is normal, but I don't want to be one of those bitter Bettys, as we call them.

Plus, the Bible pretty much has nothing nice to say about envy! :)
A sound heart is life to the body, But envy is rottenness to the bones.
Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy.
envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.
He covets greedily all day long, But the righteous gives and does not spare.
