Great Blog Post

My friend Marc wrote a great blog post called One Flesh, One Heart: A Gift from God. Before I had read it I had just gotten done reading my friend Kate's birth story for her precious second daughter Elyse (Read here). I couldn't help think of her comments about her husband doing little things that were exactly what she needed him to do during her labor (not including the yucky homemade lemonade energy drink. LOL). It was a small example of what Marc is taking about, although Marc is talking about something even deeper. It is nice to read such a great example and of course, it made me tear up.

It also gives me hope. =)

Where is NOW?

Oh, Mr. Maher...do you kiss your mama with that mouth??? See article, Bill Maher Calls Sarah Palin a Female Vulgarism, NOW Stays Mum, Mr. Maher show.

Why does it not surprise me that NOW is not making a comment? I think Mr. Vadim hit the truth when he said, “NOW really ought to change its name to National Organization for Liberal Women because as far as it's concerned conservative women aren't real women at all.”

I have heard this same thought process in several conversations I have had with people. They consider themselves feminists, and yet they can not bring themselves to offer one word of support for Sarah Palin. Why? Mrs. Palin is the epitome of a feminist. The only areas they really find her “lacking” is that she is a pro-life and conservative. To them being pro-life and a conservative somehow makes her ineligible to be a feminist and not worthy of representation by feminist watch dogs.

Feminism has become irrevocably tied to the topic of abortion, by the feminists themselves. If we are pro-life, we can not in their eyes be feminists. Sarah Palin is everything a feminist should be, but because she is pro-life she is not welcome. It seems to such a clear double standard. In fact, feminism today is becoming a joke.

I think feminism, as it is today, is a travesty that is doing its best to destroy society as a whole. God did not intend for men and women to be interchangeable. We were created with wonderful differences, that if we spent less time fighting and more time embracing, we would be much happier.

Child's Love

I just watched Julie & Julia again and can’t tell you how impressed I was. First of all, Meryl Streep is just amazing. How she is able to take on the personalities of other people so well, I just don’t know.

Julia Child was a fascinating lady! The love that she and her husband had for each other is depicted in such a wonderful way in the movie. And after seeing so many movies where men are played as completely nincompoops or bungling idiots, it was refreshing to see a husband played as the complete opposite. In a strange way, the way the movie explained Julia and Paul Child’s love and relationship gave me hope for love myself. In Hollywood and in magazines it is so easy to get caught up in the idea that only the beautiful people are happy or find love. But you see, Julia Child was not a pretty woman and was not physically perfect. She was extremely tall woman at least 6’2, while her husband was 5’11. But he fell completely and totally in love with her. They were happily married until his death at 91 years old!

Now that’s love!

Makes Me Think

I have been torn about the birth control issue for years. There are many persuasive arguments for it and many against it. And let me be clear, I am not talking about birth control that is any kind of aborificant such as the pill, IUD, etc. Those are unacceptable, since they can and do cause a woman’s body to self abort a fertilized egg.

This is a very thought provoking blog post from someone else here that has given me pause.

Mind you, birth control is not an issue for me at the moment, as I am not married. Also, a key component is how my future husband would feel about it, and would be clearly discussed before marriage to see how we both felt.

Too often we try to grab control of our lives out of God’s hands and decide what is best for us. Is our Great God too weak to decided on how many children we each have? Should we pray and let God lead us in the decision of how may to have or not to have?

Ann Margaret Hair

I just watched the Pleasure Seekers the other night. It is a slightly campy movie from 1964 with Ann Margaret. I fell in love with Ann Margaret's hair and makeup. It got me thinking about my makeup and my hair and options for copying her style. Her hair was beautiful, but it also moved. I didn't want some stiff hairstyle that wouldn't move for anything.

So, in my search for a hair tutorial on youtube.com to accomplish the right look, I came across Samantha Schuerman. She has to be the cutest thing ever. She does a great tutorial on full hair here. I even bought the hot rollers she is using there. I can't wait to get them!!

I love makeup and hair. I seriously think I jipped myself by not going to school for one or the other. I think I would have loved to do it. Ahhhh, the hindsight.

I am so glad I found Samantha Schuerman. She also has a blog here and I LOVE HER! Not only is she very talented, but she is HILARIOUS!! I love the vblogs of her and her husband.

So, if you like doing your hair and your makeup you should totally check her out. Oh, and her favorite word is "luscious". =P

Public Schools

I was going to write a long blog post about my experience in public schools and why I am against putting kids in them, but then I saw this show on public school and realized nothing more need be said. When I have time I am going to do a post on the socialist origins of public school and the drive to encourage parents to have a “hands off” approach to the forming of their children’s character. The “state” wants control of it and has pushed the idea that parents do not know what they are doing for years.

This 20/20 Special really gets to the core of the issues.
