Growing up I had two cousins that came to many family functions. Their dad had grown up in my grandparents house, although he was not blood related. I can remember him telling many funny of stories about my grandfather Mac, who died before I was born. My grandmother went on to marry a wonderful man two years before I was born, who I loved dearly.
One of the cousins was a girl named Leslie. I was always in awe of her because she was very beautiful and I was always shy around her. She was always very nice to me and I always liked talking to her. Unfortunately, she started using drugs which I think went back to her teenage years. I only saw her sporadically after that. I think the last time was at her brother's wedding many years ago, but I can't remember.
In 2006 she was brutally murdered by her "boyfriend" and today he was found gulity of first degree murder and lots of other charges that are too gruesome to go into. I was going to give the link to the article, but decided not to. It is just too icky and I already posted it on myspace and regretted it.
I know I am to pray for this man. I think it is what Christ would do in my place, but it's hard. It is so much easier to forgive someone when they have asked for that forgiveness...and it is a whole nother kettle of fish when that person is completely remorseless.
Ultimately, I am grateful that God will be the Judge of mankind. Leslie and this bad man will get their chance before God and at salvation. Neither of them are hopeless, they will get their chance.
Please pray for Leslie's family, which includes her teenage son. Even though there is some closure for them with this verdict, this just sucks all the way around.

How awful. I don't even have words.
May the Lord bring comfort to you and your whole family right now.
I respect how you're dealing with such wickedness. If there's anything I can do, please let me know.
Thank you SO much Kate!! Your prayers would be wonderful!!
Andrea
