Who knew that finding second hand clothes would be so freaking fun?!?! On Friday, a co-worker and I went to just two thrift shops in our area. I have to admit that at first I was a little intimidated. I mean, where do you start? I mean, other people's clothes? It seemed a little strange at the beginning, but that was before I got started. Woooow, baby.
I thoroughly enjoyed my jaunt into thrift shopping and I can't wait to go back. There is SO much to choose from, whether it be clothes or house wares. And most of the stuff was very good quality. The places we went were manned by very nice and helpful people. One of them was even having a kind year end extravaganza. They hand you a grocery bag and anything you can fit in that bag, whether it be clothes, shoes or house wares was $5.00 for the WHOLE bag!! Yes, that’s right FIVE DOLLARS. Be still my frugal lovin’ heart!! Between the two thrift shops I found 2 dresses, 2 shirts, 1 skirt, 1 vest, 4 jackets, 1 vintage brooch, 4 hair pins, 1 pair of Banana Republic shoes, a crystal wine decanter and a candy dish. I paid just under $50 total for it all. Out of all those items 3 clothing items were vintage about 1950-1970 I would estimate. The brooch is also definitely vintage, probably 1950-1960, but I am just guessing.
I seriously can’t wait to go thrift shopping again. What I really need to do is make a list of what I need, but leave myself a little leeway. If I am not careful I will have a closet full of stuff I love, but that isn’t very practical.
